In support of the University of California’s Global Food Initiative, which commits the UC to develop and promote sustainable and nutritional food systems to meet an ever-increasing global population, the UCR Global Food Committee is soliciting applications for the 2021-2022 Global Food Fellowship.
HUNGER FREE 2050 LED BY STUDENTS
The “hunger free 2050” post conference activities and public panel series were led by UCR students to educate, engage and empower them civically, on and off campus, to bring attention to complex and important issues to resolve to achieve food global security and environmental sustainability, i.e. - the need to reframe the question on how we are going to feed the 9.5 billion people sustainably, and the need for an all-encompassing interdisciplinary analysis to bring a more realistic and sustainable solution.

A lot of international students are studying in UCR Extension. Like some of them need to do internships. During the spring quarter 2020, CAFÉ welcomed four students from the Postgraduate Diploma in Management program of UCRX.

Feeding a Hungry Planet: Agriculture, Nutrition and Sustainability
How do we create a healthy and sustainable diet for the growing world population?
Agriculture is more than waving fields of wheat; our ability to grow food from existing natural resources – and without decimating those resources – is key to sustainably feeding the world. In this course, learn about food security worldwide, the effects of malnutrition, how we manage ecosystems that provide food resources and more. You’ll emerge from this course with a clear answer to the question: What can I do to make food consumption and production more sustainable?
Interested in this course? If you are a CAFE intern or you are a student at UCR CAFE will cover the cost of this online class.
Note: This is not a UCR class but you can earn a certificate.
